64 GB or 128 GB: which R36S is right for you?
This retro handheld console comes in two storage options. The 64 GB version arrives loaded with 15,000+ classic games, while the 128 GB version packs a whopping 30,000+ retro titles — including more demanding systems such as PSP and Nintendo 64. Every R36S ships with a fully loaded microSD: nothing to install, just switch on, pick a system and play. Both versions come with free tracked delivery across the UK. The 64 GB model is the perfect way in, while the 128 GB is the one for collectors who want absolutely everything at their fingertips — order yours here.
Which legendary games will you find on each system?
The R36S supports an impressive list of systems so you can play the true classics the way they were meant to be played: the iconic NES platformers, the great SNES RPGs, the pocket-sized gems of the Game Boy, Game Boy Color and GBA, the smooth 3D of the PS1 and the portable PSP hits. On top of that, Sega Mega Drive, Neo Geo and MAME arcade all run effortlessly. In short: Nintendo, Sega and Sony united on one portable games console. Whether you are after fast arcade action, atmospheric retro adventures or nostalgic platformers — this retro console has something for everyone.
Open-source emulation: ArkOS and RetroArch (Linux)
The R36S runs on open-source emulation — and that is exactly what makes this portable games console so capable and reliable. It comes pre-installed with ArkOS, a lightweight, stable Linux-based system, combined with the well-known open-source emulator RetroArch. Because everything is open source, you need neither Wi-Fi nor an account: no sign-ups, no shady background processes — maximum privacy, minimum effort. The controls stay delightfully simple: switch on, pick a system, play.
Loading your own games onto the R36S
A big advantage of this retro handheld console is how easy it is to add new games. It all works through the microSD — drop your own games into the correct system folders and the menu picks them up automatically. Want more room for even more classics? Simply pop in a larger microSD card. Your collection grows with you, laid out clearly and logically, with no Wi-Fi or account required.
Beware of cheap knock-offs
Unfortunately, more and more counterfeits are appearing. The biggest difference is in the display: fakes often use a grainy TN panel instead of a genuine IPS screen. Classics look pale and washed out on them, details disappear and the colours shift at every viewing angle. The genuine R36S has an ultra-bright 3.5-inch IPS display on which every pixel is razor-sharp. The software matters too: knock-offs often lack the proper ArkOS/RetroArch setup, so emulation stutters. Here you are guaranteed the genuine R36S — with the original IPS display, the right system and a fully loaded microSD.
The perfect present — with delivery and service to match
Looking for an original, affordable gift? The R36S is a perfect choice. This portable games console is packed with classics and delights young players just as much as nostalgic grown-ups. Pick from five colours, and because the console ships with a fully loaded microSD, the lucky recipient has nothing to set up: unbox, switch on, play. Free delivery, a 14-day right to cancel and UK customer support by email make gifting easy — for birthdays, Christmas or just because. Order your R36S here.
